The annual meeting organised by Assintel, the National Association of ICT Enterprises, was held on 19 October. With the Assintel Report, it analyses trends in the ICT and digital sector, and highlights the dynamics of innovation in our market. Also speaking at the event was Davide D’Arcangelo, Founder of Next4, as well as Vice-President of Impatta and Head of Development and Member of the Technical Scientific Committee of Fondazione Italia Digitale.
The presentation of the Report, which took place simultaneously in Rome and Milan, illustrated the evolution of the Italian market in recent years, providing an overview of the process of digitisation of companies In contrast to the crisis, the Information Technology sector grew by 7% in 2022, bringing the market value to EUR 30.77 billion, which rises to at least EUR 36 billion if the entire ICT sector is considered. This means that Italian companies are continuing to invest in digital products and services, despite the shadow of the energy crisis, inflation, political changes and the war in Ukraine. All thanks to a change of mindset and the awareness that adhering to the digital transition is now essential to be competitive and increase productivity. Davide D’Arcangelo is convinced of this to the point of promoting a dedicated figure even in the public administration, namely the Public Innovation Manager.
The words of Assintel President Paola Generali then underlined how digital can be the answer to so many problems. According to the President, the data that emerged from the report are “proof that digital can be the anti-cyclical variable that we need to tackle difficulties”. “We cannot afford to waste this boost”, she finally stated. During the event, the winners of the first edition of the Assintel Digital Awards, identified as Cyberneid and Ecosteer, were also announced and awarded.
